Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is now a global phenomenon being harnessed in all facets of life due to its rich potential in national development. This study explored how nurse educators use ICT to enhance the learning experiences of nursing students in Edo State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was employed to sample a population of all 36 nurse educators in the three universities that offer Bachelor in Nursing Science degrees by a self-administered questionnaire. Results showed that all the respondents used laptops 34(100%); 30(88%) used them to store information and browse the internet. Audio based ICT facilities such as voice recorders were employed by 22 (64.7%) for direct class room facilitation. The study established that high educational qualifications had a direct impact on computer use at a p-value of 0.05df. It enjoined government to enforce its basic requirement of computer literacy for all educators in nursing institutions while taking steps to provide ICT facilities especially desktop computers with internet connectivity as part of the nurse educators’ office equipment.
