Abstract

Psychological and social wellbeing is very important to all individuals but the measures put in place to check the spread of the corona virus negate these aspects of human existence, especially the visual impaired. This study examined post covid-19 and psychosocial wellbeing of students with visual impairment in South West Nigeria.  The directive of NCDC to maintain social distancing coupled with the stay at home order by the Federal Government of Nigeria created a lot of psychological challenges for the visual impaired students owing to the peculiar characteristics of the blind. Lengthy lockdowns and the associated measures in two major cities in Southwest Nigeria had a negative influence on the psychosocial wellbeing of the students with visual impairment. The study proposed proactive interventions targeted at the peculiar characteristics of the blinds. It recommended among others things, the restructuring of academic calendar to reduce the impact of school closure to ensure that students with visual impairment were not overburdened.
